At The Playful Start, we provide early intervention services for young children using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). We support children ages 18 months to 6 years through play-based, natural environment teaching embedded in everyday routines and meaningful interactions. Our approach focuses on building strong relationships first, using those connections to support communication, social development, and independence.

Hi, I’m Marissa Kelleher, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), and co-founder of The Playful Start. My path into this work is both professional and deeply personal. As a parent, I experienced firsthand the impact of early intervention and parent-mediated approaches with my own child and experience that continues to shape how I support the families I serve.

I founded The Playful Start alongside my spouse, Cody Martinez, who serves Operations and Revenue Cycle Management. As parents, our shared journey has influenced the heart behind our practice and strengthened our commitment to building a supportive, family-centered experience for every child and caregiver we work with.

In my clinical work, I focus on early intervention using developmental and behavioral strategies that are individualized, play-based, and family-centered. I believe in meeting families where they are and providing support that feels practical, compassionate, and empowering. At The Playful Start, families are true partners, and together we create meaningful learning opportunities that extend into everyday life.
